Brian O’Neill Solo Exhibit: A Fine Art Benefit for AIDS Care

March 5, 2012

Rochester,  NY  A fine art benefit for AIDS Care will open with a reception at The Arts & Cultural Council of Greater Rochester, Inc., located at 277 North Goodman Street in Rochester, on Friday, April 6 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Rochester-based, internationally renowned and award-winning artist, Brian O’Neill, will present a one-man show, The Bridge Between Two Worlds, which captures the journey O’Neill has taken since relocating from New York City to Rochester seven years ago.  His latest representational work will serve as a fundraiser for AIDS Care, with 100% of one special painting and 10% of the total show proceeds to benefit the local organization.  This will be the first time the two local not-for-profit organizations have partnered for an event.

Dr. Roberto Corales, Senior Director for HIV Medicine and Clinical Research at AIDS Care, says, “I am quite fond of Brian’s work and look forward to viewing and enjoying what he has created for this special exhibit. We are honored that he has so generously offered a portion of the proceeds from this show to benefit our organization.”

"The adage, think globally but act locally,’ really fits this event and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to use my talent and gifts to help in our very own community," says Brian O’Neill.  The overall theme of the upcoming show will convey many meanings and explore connected forms of Realism, Organic Abstractions and Contemporary Floral.  Many Rochesterians enthusiastically collect O’Neill’s work and follow his career. One of his larger works, “Highland Park in Bloom” is prominently displayed as a focal point in the lobby of Highland Hospital.

The show is open to the public and can be viewed beginning April 3 through April 26 at The Arts & Cultural Council.  The gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  Additionally, O’Neill will be offering a live pastel demonstration and artist talk at the gallery on Saturday, April 14 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. O’Neill will discuss the inspiration for his work, composition, materials; and will demonstrate the use of pastel to achieve a highly rendered realistic image. This presentation will be free and open to the public.  Please call 585-473-4000 for more information. To view Brian O’Neill’s artwork, please visit www.brianoneillstudio.com.
